Azura Quilálea, in the region of the Quirimbas Archipelago, is a unique island marine sanctuary, fringed with pristine beaches and surrounded by the tropical Indian Ocean. Just 35 hectares in extent, this Indian Ocean island offers the ultimate in seclusion and privacy, with the only residents being the hotel guests and staff.

The resort accommodates guests in 9 seafront villas. The 4 Sunrise Villas feature an open floor-plan and located just a few steps from the beach. Four Sunset Villas have the premium locations on the beach with an outdoor shower and beach sala. The cliff-top Villa Quilalea is decadent and features a canopied king bed, private infinity plunge pool, outdoor shower and separate sitting and dining area. All of the villas have a unique energy control system whereby guests can take control of their own eco-footprint. All modern conveniences are there if desired, including mini bar and air-conditioning, or you can be cooled by the natural breezes.

Dining options at Azura Quilálea vary from breakfast on the water’s edge to a picnic on a deserted island and dinner on a candlelit beach. The menus are based on what is fresh and available focusing on the finest seafood including the mangrove crab and crawfish.

Spend your days simply soaking up the sun by the swimming pool or on the pristine, white beaches or choose from our many adventure activities on offer on the island. Diving, snorkeling, fly fishing, sport fishing, canoeing, island exploration, swimming, historical tours, dhow sailing trips and bird watching are all available on the island.

The island has its own marine pavilion, which is a fully equipped fishing and PADI dive center. Sport fishing and deep-sea angling are offered outside the sanctuary where game fish are plentiful.

Azura’s dedication to conservation and the community lies at the heart of the resort. It is one of only a handful of resorts in Mozambique where the community are major contributors and stakeholders.
