Tswalu Motse Lodge (Motse: Tswana for house/lodge) faces westward across the grasslands of the Kalahari. Designed to blend inconspicuously into the mountain range, Motse is surrounded by nine spacious magae (Legae: Tswana for small house/suite; plural = magae), and designed in classic African style whilst offering unrivalled elegance. Motse achieves a rustic feel without compromising its luxury facilities.
The lodge is near the center of the reserve. In keeping within the African style of thatched roofs and traditional décor Motse boasts a galleried library, outdoor and indoor dining areas and wine cellar with its center piece a vast open fireplace soaring up high into its roof. A veranda overlooks the outdoor heated swimming pool and pool terrace.
Each of the eight air conditioned legaes comprise of a spacious bedroom, en suite bathroom, both inside and outside showers with views across the plains, large lounge with open fire place, direct dial telephone, safe, mini bar and larder. A private sundeck overlooks a waterhole.
Activities offered include day and night game drives and walking safaris, and horseback riding. As part of the game drives, you will be able to visit the Mokwalo site (Tswana for "engravings"), renowned for its Bushman history. The site is from the later Stone Age and you may examine tools from this period, as well as San engravings and one of the most developed groups of cupules in the world.
