Queen Elizabeth National Park

The park contains about 770 square miles of tremendous scenic variety, including volcanic crater and crater lakes, grassy plains, swamps, rivers, lakes and tropical forest. The snowcapped Ruwenzori Mountains lie to the north and are not part of the park itself. The park is home to large herds of hippo and various waterfowl often seen while boating through Kazinga Channel. There is also a population of Chimpanzee and other primate species often found in the Chambura Gorge area. The Ishasha region to the south of the park is home to the famous tree-climbing lions. Other game present in the park include, elephant, buffalo, leopard, sitatunga, giant forest hog, Uganda kob, and Defassa waterbuck. Queen Elizabeth National Park is excellent for birding.
