Chiawa Camp
Built under a grove of mahogany and acacia trees on the banks of the Zambezi River, Chiawa Camp is one of Lower Zambezi National Park's premier camps. The camp’s main lounge and bar area has an observation platform built into its roof, providing one of the best views in the valley. The dining area also looks out onto the river, where animals regularly come to drink and graze. There is a swimming pool for the hotter months.
Eight Superior safari tents are under shade, each on a raised timber deck with private veranda, have en suite facilities with flush toilets, hot & cold running water, twin or double beds, insect screens and solar powered lighting. Access paths to the tents run through a grove of mahogany trees, maximizing privacy.
The exclusive Safari Suite is ideal for Honeymooners or families who want a bit more luxury and privacy. The expansive tent has a beautiful private view of the Zambezi, the escarpment and the Chiawa River bed. It features a king bedroom, lounge area (which can be converted into a second bedroom for families), inter-leading bathroom with indoor shower, flush toilet and dual wash basins. The rooms open onto a shaded deck with outdoor dining, gazebo, fireplace and private swimming pool.
Activities include day and night game drives (maximum of 4 people per vehicle), game viewing hides, safaris by boat, canoeing down the Lower Zambezi, catch and release fishing and bush walks. Night game drives are enhanced by non-invasive red lights on the spotlight and headlights. For stays of four nights or more, a visit to a local village is available (additional fee applies).
