Damaraland Camp
Damaraland Camp provides endless vistas across stark plains, ancient valleys and soaring peaks of Damaraland. The development of this camp is based on community ecotourism. In 2004, the camp and the Torra Conservancy were the proud recipient of the United Nations Development Program Equator Prize for biodiversity conservation and poverty alleviation. In 2005 the project was further recognized with the award of the prestigious World Tourism Council’s Tourism for Tomorrow Award in the conservation category.
Activities include exploration on foot, by mountain bike or 4x4 vehicles, and having an opportunity to view springbok, oryx and ostrich, and track the unique desert-adapted elephant.
