The Lake Kivu Serena Hotel islocated in the Rwandan border town of Gisenyi, overlooking a sandy beach of Lake Kivu. Lake Kivu is an inland sea and 1,000 square miles volcanic lake which borders the Congo to the west and features a dramatic mountain coastline. Here the fisherman plies the water in dugout canoes unchanged in design for centuries, while colorfully dressed ladies smoke traditional wooden pipes and troubadours strum sweetly on traditional guitars.
