Mara Explorer Camp

Classic A deluxe lodge or tented camp, almost all with swimming pools, excellent food and service, large nicely appointed rooms or tents with comfortable beds and tasteful decor; most of the lodges have air-conditioning and the tents are usually fan-cooled.

Mara Explorer, built on a thickly forested river in the middle of the Maasai Mara reserve, offers the ultimate wilderness retreat.  Here you can watch elephants or giraffes drinking from the privacy of your verandah - or your own outdoor bathtub!  In the heart of the reserve, Explorer enjoys prime views of the spectacular wildebeest migration between June and September, and rewarding daily game viewing for the remainder of the year.

This exclusive five-star camp offers 10 luxurious en suite tents, each with a private deck overlooking the river. There is an open-air riverfront dining area, an intimate lounge and camp library. The swimming pool can be used at the sister camp, Mara Intrepids. Activities offered include shared game drives, walking safaris in the Mara Conservation area, and visits to a local Maasai community supported by the camp. Riverside bush breakfasts, sundowners and dinners can be arranged.  Optional balloon safaris can be arranged.
