Serian The Original
Serian "The Original" is the charismatic bush home of Alex Walker, a filmmaker and guide, in the Mara North Conservancy. The exclusive wilderness camp is set alongside a secluded valley flanking the Mara River close to the Siria Escarpment. The private marquee tents are set in the shade of large Olive and Walburgia trees that cover the site, providing a tranquil setting.
There are eight en suite "Marquee's", each furnished in rich warm textures mixed with natural hard woods. Comfortable colonial style furnishing with a little eastern "spice", the tents, set on a grass plinth, measure 165sq ft, and are identical in design. They are constructed of canvas and supported by hardwood poles with the interior walls and ceilings made from Kenyan canvas. Entry to each tent is through a screened door that zips closed to form a totally insect proof barrier. The "bedroom" area is fitted with large double beds, under a mosquito net, flanked by twin writing desks. The "bathroom" area includes a shower, soaking tub and separate toilet. The dressing area contains the cupboards with hanging space and twin basins. Hanging swathes of cotton and canvas walls provide complete privacy.
A personal Butler is allocated to each Marquee; he is at the guests’ personal beck and call. Start your day by being served early morning tea in the comfort of your bed whilst your butler organizes your laundry and arranges with the chef a menu to suit your own taste. He will also liaise with your safari guide to organize picnic breakfasts, lunches, sundowners, and starlit dinners.
The experience at Serian is focused on viewing wildlife, in particular, the big five - Cape buffalo, lion, leopard, elephant and rhino. The Migration of one and a half million wildebeest, zebra and topi pass through the Maasai Mara. Your driver guide is crucial to the success of your day. The guides have specialist local knowledge and are experienced at handling and approaching dangerous big game safely. They have gone to great lengths to put together an unbeatable team, who are dedicated to providing a helpful, attentive and knowledgeable service to guests.
There is also the chance to fly camp. Put some adventure into your safari, walking with experienced armed guides we will take you into the heart of the Mara. You will immediately notice the difference between a vehicle tour and one conducted on foot. Senses that may have been a little dulled in a car will strain to perceive indications of the wild game that surrounds you.
