Safari Consultant Kyle Witten traveled on two separate trips – one in October and one in April. “The big cats would walk right through our camp each night. Having one dedicated guide is the ultimate as they know what you have seen the day before so there is no repeating game experience. Being able to sit and really observe the game was the highlight for me! Seeing leopards, lions, unprecedented cheetah sightings and habituated meerkats makes traveling to Botswana possible all months of the year. We were camping and game viewing on private game concessions where there are no crowds! This truly is the forward direction of conservation – local communities working with the government to run the national parks.”

Mark Nolting, President of AAC on his trip in Jul/Aug 2010 “During our recent two days with Dave Carsons and Nic Polenakis in northwestern Hwange National Park, we watched, unnoticed from a high ridge, a large herd of elephants dig for fresh water and drink (photo left). The following morning we tracked black rhino on foot. That afternoon, we spotted a number of vultures circling in the distance, drove to the area, and walked up to a kill were we found three hyena on a dead giraffe. We had sundowners at a dam with dozens of elephant, giraffe and a herd of over 200 buffalo as company. What a phenomenal two days! We classify these guys as “guide’s guides” and consider them two of the very best on the continent. Nic and Dave’s enthusiasm is contagious, and their humor will have you enjoying your adventures all day long.

And for the consummate experience, there is no better guide than Nick Murray, with whom our family spent 5 days of non-stop adventure and fun at Vundu Camp. With Nick, you can have experiences that you never thought possible in Africa. We sat under a tree and were approached by 3 bull elephants, one of which came within about 10 feet of us (photo right). We “bum-crawled “ up to within about 20 feeet of a pack of 11 African wild (painted) dogs A real highlight was canoeing on the Zambezi River – and no-one knows the river better than Nick. Canoeing up to elephant, herds of buffalo and other wildlife coming to drink along the shoreline, and even pulling ashore and approaching big game on foot is too exciting for words. Mana Pools is the best park in Africa for combining game drives with walking and canoeing activities.”

Uganda – The Pearl of Africa!

Uganda is one of Africa’s hidden gems offering far more than seeing the gorillas! There is chimp trekking in Kibale to tree climbing lions in Ishasha-Queen Elizabeth to white-water rafting the Nile. Visit Uganda before the rest of the world discovers it!

Group set departure dates – Feb, Jul, Sep

Alison Nolting, Co-owner of AAC on her return on her return – “Uganda truly is a destination that needs 7-10 days on the ground to visit! I was able to see first hand how the gorilla permit money has benefited the conservation of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest with a visit to the new Nkuringo group whilst staying at Clouds Lodge on the southern side of the park. We eagerly support community sponsored projects that benefit the local people living around the forest. I am truly passionate about increasing support of small village schools, clinics and private enterprise!”

My Private Tanzanian Safari – Kicking it up a Notch! By Szilvia Hegyi
On a recent safari to Tanzania I had the privilege of having my own guide for 2 weeks. Jadim is a member of our fantastic team of top-notch guides in Tanzania and I saw first hand the benefits of a private vehicle which is excellent value and enhances your game viewing experience. Game viewing with other people on a group safari is a lot of fun for the first time traveler to Africa. If however, you enjoy flexibility or have a specific interest (photographer, birder) and would prefer to safari at your own speed, then having a private guide is the way to go!

The two programs featured below have a private guide option. There is a misconception that having a private guide on safari is a budget-breaker. Not so for AAC clients traveling in Tanzania. This will allow you to be driven from park to park on your own game viewing schedule! Think of it as one of the most important investments you are making for your safari plans.
