Booking an AAC safari is more than just game viewing; there is purpose to making a difference! We are very involved in many African communities, giving back to conservation projects, and supporting guides at grass roots level. We are especially focused to assist students’ education as it is our hope they will continue in the wildlife conservation or tourism field. Let us arrange a visit to these projects on your safari travels!
As we enter high season for safari travel, we do want to thank many AAC travelers for your generosity.
Mother of Africa, Zimbabwe – We continue to donate and support their community and conservation projects in Matobo Hills and Hwange. Our newest projects was getting the Womens’ Shelter in place. And the anti+poaching unit continues to work well with half the team of ranger being women.
Dec. 2024 – A special thank you to the Spriet Family for their generous donation to the Ethandweni Children’s Home. During their recent safari, they fell in love with the people of Zimbabwe and this donation will truly make a difference!
Youth Nutrition and Water Program at Lake Eyasi, Tanzania – The Pollack/Wong Family visited the school and were so inspired by the children and teachers that they started a non-profit to earn funds to help these children and give them a chance for a brighter future. Their annual fundraiser has gone to build a new kitchen. And the other new project is the platform with new water tanks coming.
Dec. 2024 – Thank you! We would like to thank our client Mr. Brad for his generosity in sponsoring the feeding program at Lake Eyasi for 516 school children for the year of 2025!
Bushlife Conservancy – Mana Pools. The anti-poaching unit has received two new vehicles and the new ranger station is now completed at Chitangazuva. Wildlife conservation clubs continue in the areas around Mana Pools.
Dec. 2022 – Thank you!
“Alison, Mark and team, Heartfelt thank you for the kind donation to Uthando and our community development partners. Love. Team Uthando and James”
Tanzania schools:
Our clients traveling to Tanzania are incredibly generous! We have partnered with a primary school near Lake Eyasi. The AAC staff have adopted the project Youth Nutrition and a Water Program at Lake Eyasi (LEYNWP).AAC will assist in ensuring supplies reach the students if clients can bring them to Arusha or deliver them personally with a visit during their safari.
Tanzania scholarships:
We will continue the scholarship fund for over 35 children of the Tanzania guides who take our clients out on safari.
Tanzania Guides:
We have over the years recognized Ephata Lotashau, Emmanuel Mkenda, and Hillary Mandia in our annual Guide of the Year award.
Zimbabwe scholarships:
Through Children in the Wilderness there is an opportunity to sponsor several girls/boys to attend High School. If you are interested in donating directly to a child, we would put you in touch with a needy participant in schools around Matobo Hills and Hwange. 12/20/22 – matching donation sent in honor of Brenda Yost from her family and AAC.
Save Wildlife Uganda:
Save Wildlife Uganda was started by a Ugandan Safari Guide, Eric Ndorere, and features a community center in Ishasha. Visitors are welcomed daily and is the ideal stop enroute from Queen Elizabeth National Park or Bwindi. Experience local Bakiga culture and learn about weaving baskets and designing fabrics. Visit the onsite vegetable and herb garden.
This past year has been busy for Save Wildlife Uganda. Eric and his team have built an addition to the community center, including a dining room and kitchen. They have expanded their farming efforts and are already hosting tourists/visitors en route to the gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. The Simba Cafe is REAL!
We recommend visiting as soon as you can. Eric would be delighted to share the hospitality of the Ishasha women at the community center.
Zimbabwe – Mana Pools Bushlife Conservancy:
We give a yearly donation on behalf of all the clients we have booked at Vundu Camp for their on-going work with the park rangers and anti-poaching efforts. Sign up to donate.
Botswana guides:
We sponsor the opportunity for camp guides to improve their specialist knowledge providing them with private guiding opportunities that many of our lucky clients enjoy on a complimentary basis. Brooks Kamanakao is one such guide!
Wilderness Safaris Trust:
We continue to be supporters of Wilderness Safaris camps in Southern and East Africa. Beyond the outstanding safari experience they deliver, we know that for every bed-night we book with them, a portion of the price goes to the Wilderness Wildlife Trust. This is a true commitment to sustainable photographic tourism.
Cape Town Uthando community:
Contact us to set up a tour for you during your time in Cape Town. Uthando raises funds for impoverished township education projects http://uthandosa.org/
Mother Africa Foundation:
In partnership with Amalinda Lodge, we continue to donate and support their community and conservation projects in Matobo Hills.
