Kwando, Linyanti & Selinda Concessions
Kwando, Linyanti and Selinda Concessions lie between Botswana's Chobe National Park and Okavango Delta. During the dry season, the concentration of elephant here is staggering. Elephants and other wildlife congregate around the Kwando River, Linyanti River and the Selinda Spillway as freshwater becomes increasingly scare elsewhere. These concessions are like a "mini Okavango Delta", and therefore, have some of the best game viewing in Southern Africa.
The year-round depth of the Kwando and Linyanti Rivers allows for year-round water activities. Boat cruises allow guests to approach wildlife on the shoreline, as well as picturesque sundowners. Other activities include day and night game drives and guided walks. The best time of year for game viewing is from May to November. Once the rains begin in November, the elephants disperse, only to return the following May at the onset of the dry season. A variety of other animals reside here, including crocodile, hippo, sitatunga, lechwe, giraffe, buffalo, lion, cheetah, and spotted hyena. These concessions are arguably one of the best places to see wild dog (painted wolf) in all of Africa.
