Malilangwe Wildlife Reserve
Malilangwe, a 134,000 acre reserve in southeastern Zimbabwe, is arguably both one of Africa’s best kept secrets and its best private reserve. For one, its open savannahs, cathedral-like mopane forests, immense baobab trees, ancient rock paintings sites, and huge, rocky outcrops are very scenic. Second, it's a Big 5 reserve, boasting huge populations of black and white rhino, lion, leopard, elephant and buffalo, as well as giraffe, cheetah and wild dog. Third, it is incredibly exclusive: the entire reserve only features one lodge, and it’s luxurious at that. Activities available include day and night game drives, guided walks, boating, canoeing, fishing an day trips to Gonarezhou National Park.
