Tswalu Kalahari Reserve
Tswalu Kalahari is the largest privately owned game reserve in South Africa. Located in the southernmost area of the Kalahari, the reserve has exceptional year-round wildlife viewing. The Korrananberg Mountains and bright orange sandy soil provide a stunning backdrop. Black-maned lions, African wild dogs (painted wolves), cheetahs, black and white rhinos, sable, giraffe, oryx and leopard are commonly seen. The reserve also has the reputation as one of the best places to see aardvark and pangolins, two very elusive species.
No more than 30 guests are able to explore the reserve at a time. This ensures a very exclusive experience and allows the opportunity to see firsthand how your visit contributes to conservation efforts. Each party has its own private vehicle and guide. Along with day and night game drives, activities include horseback safaris, guided walks (including tracking rhino), and visits to San bushman rock art. It is also possible to spend time with the reserve's habituated meerkats, made famous by the show Meerkat Manor., black rhino, and see the famous Kalahari black-maned lions. Ballooning is available but must be pre-booked.
