Itinerary Description

AAC has custom-designed this suggested safari itinerary for families! It offers great value with fabulous pricing for children and parents. Your Private naturalist guides are excellent at working with families.
You are staying in first class, mobile-tented camps, combined with a lodge and a permanent tented camp. You will drive from park to park where you will be able to enjoy the African scenery including the Great Rift Valley.
Activities include game drives, walks, and hikes with the local peoples (Hadzi and Datoga) at Lake Eyasi.

Day by Day Itinerary

Day 01

Arrive Kilimanjaro

On arrival in Kilimanjaro, you will be met and transferred to your lodge.  Enjoy the evening at leisure. Overnight Kahawa Cottages.

Day 02+03

Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, depart with your family and private guide to Tarangire National Park. Enjoy an afternoon game drive in Tarangire with a picnic lunch. Continue on to your tented camp late in the day. Next morning enjoy a full day game drive in Tarangire National Park with a picnic lunch. 2 nights Lake Burunge Tented Camp.

Day 04+05

Lake Eyasi

Morning visit to Chief Lobulu’s Masai Village. Continue to the Mto wa Mbu village and markets for a tour and local lunch.  In the afternoon continue to Lake Eyasi. Next day enjoy a morning hike and visit with the Hadzabe Bushmen. Afternoon at leisure at your lodge. 2 nights Ziwani Lodge.

Day 06+07

Ngorongoro Crater

This morning you will visit the local school then return to the lodge for lunch. Continue on to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, which was a pioneer experiment in reconciling the interests of wildlife animals and indigenous forests with the needs of the local Maasai tribe. Next morning depart to the Ngorongoro Crater Rim and descend with a packed picnic for a day of game viewing on the crater floor. Return to your lodge late in the day. Enjoy the evening at leisure. 2 nights Bougainvillea Safari Lodge.

Day 08-11

Serengeti

Your journey to the Serengeti traverses through the Ngorongoro highlands and includes a visit to Olduvai Gorge, the famous archaeological site where the Leakey’s discovered the remains of Australopithecus, Homo Habilis and Homo Erectus. You may want to arrange with your guide to also visit the Shifting Sands area. Continue to the park entrance and enjoy an afternoon game drive through the plains to your camp. Enjoy three days of game viewing. 4 nights Thorntree Camp or Camp Zebra.

Day 12

Serengeti/Arusha-Kilimanjaro/Depart

Game drive en route to the airstrip for your scheduled charter flight to Arusha. On arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel where a dayroom has been reserved until this evening’s airport transfer.  Enjoy lunch at your hotel. Dayroom: Kahawa Cottages.
