12 Day | Group Tented Explorer Safari to Tanzania

On arrival in Kilimanjaro, you will be met and transferred to your lodge.  Enjoy the evening at leisure. Overnight Kahawa Cottages.

After breakfast, depart by road with your group to Tarangire National Park. Enjoy an afternoon game drive in Tarangire with a picnic lunch. Continue on to your tented camp late in the day. Next morning enjoy a full day game drive in Tarangire National Park with a picnic lunch. 2 nights Lake Burunge Tented Camp.

Drive across the floor of the Great Rift Valley to Mto wa Mbu where you have a guided visit (including rice plantations, wood carving from the Makonde tribe, traditional painting – tinga tinga, kisu, home made banana brewery).  Enjoy lunch in the middle of a banana plantation. In the afternoon continue to Lake Eyasi. Next day enjoy a morning hike and visit with the Hadzabe Bushmen. Afternoon at leisure at your lodge. 2 nights Ziwani Lodge.

This morning you will visit the local school then return to the lodge for lunch. Continue on to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, which was a pioneer experiment in reconciling the interests of wildlife animals and indigenous forests with the needs of the local Maasai tribe. Next morning depart to the Ngorongoro Crater Rim and descend with a packed picnic for a day of game viewing on the crater floor. Return to your lodge late in the day. Your journey to Serengeti includes a visit to Oldupai Gorge, the famous archaeological site where the Leakey’s discovered the remains of Australopithecus, Homo Habilis and Homo Erectus. Continue to your camp, game viewing enroute. Enjoy days of game viewing. 4 nights Serenity Camp.

This morning depart by vehicle and road transfer to Arusha.  (There is an optional scheduled charter flight to Arusha which eliminates an 8 hour drive.) Enjoy lunch at Kahawa Cottages (you have the option of getting a dayroom in Arusha – optional upgrade).  This evening transfer to Kilimanjaro for your departing international flight.
